I know that lack of documentation can be frustrating. In the way of
an excuse, a lot of these components in this part of the market (and
the software) are designed, produced, shipped and supported by a very
small staff...often one person! While these are very talented
technical people, written communication at a level of novice is not
their long suit. The good news is you don't have to pay for massive
amounts of overhead, sales, marketing, legal and tech writers like you
would with a large company like AB. That same motor driver you bought
for less than 200.00 would cost you a bloody fortune from a commercial
source. All engineers tend to hate documentation and have a hard time
understanding how something that is obvious to them is so difficult to
grasp by mere mortals. I can say all this case I ARE ONE! (Engineer)
I'm glad you got your beast running and the pain will rapidly diminish
when you are cutting parts.
You entirely right Caudlet..Rapidly Diminishing pain,,,I am now developing some actual affection for the ole mill....Damn sure like Mach2 better than the original controller (1982) on my other cnc mill...........I have the 6000 pound cnc lathe with dead controller that am still considering fixing up....Thinking it will be just a few months before I forget the aggravations associated with this mill project.. . I just doing this as a hardcore hobbiest so dont really need cnc lathe but some piece of me wants 'least one of everything..Like I always tell my better half--"Stick with me Darling and one of these days You and I will have everything I want !!" :-) ..
.
I am aware these several folks providing us with our required components are doing it from small one man shops or maybe they have just a few employees. As I say I appreciate getting answers here , and reason for that is because I sympathise with those vendors and the load of questions that they have to answer every day.I would rather have comprehensive documentation in front of me so that I wouldnt have to ask anybody, anything . I dont want to pester the vendor with questions.., but given that this seems to be a friendly 'community' of folks generous enough to share what they have previously been through and learned,,, well , this serves well enough....And incidently I have been swapping a few emails with Jim Cullins giving me a hand sorting a problem....Fine fellow.
