My experience has been that a manual knee mill is worth more as a manual
than it is after it has been converted. Look for a NC/CNC mill with a bad
control (there are lots out there) and sell the manual. For an example a
Bridgeport manual will sell for $5000 - $7000 at an auction and a BOSS 5 at
the same auction will only bring $2000 - $3000 and it already has ball
screws, motors and power supplies and it is CNC grade iron. On the other
hand, for the manual you need to buy ball screws, motors, power supplies,
motor mounts, driver cards and the iron is not CNC and the converted mill is
worth less.
