Just a thought. Why not use a roller knife - think pizza cutter. As the
knife is rolling over the surface it won't drag the fabric. Roller
knives are quite often used to cut fabric. You can either drag it like a
caster or use a motor to rotate the knife to make sure it always points
in the right direction. Mach2 has rotary axis knife facilities. I also
have a SheetCam post processor that generates suitable code to drive
the rotary axis.
