:-) The link I gave is to a file transfer area. Some kind soul deleted the
files...
You can see it here:
http://www.caswa.com/Homing.mov

The prox probes are Allen-Bradley 872C-D2NP8-P3 C
It's only 8mm in diameter, has a nickel plated brass body, and a pnp output.
I've used other types of small proxes before for this and they work fairly
well. Proximity probes appear regularly on ebay.

Paul:

This is awesome, firstly because you took the time to do it, secondly
because you took the trouble to make and upload a video, and thirdly,
because of your result. I thank you.

A micron is a micrometer, so your 90-percent confidence interval is 2
micron x 0.00003937 inch/micron or about 0.08 mils for us
"Imperialists" (I'm only talking units here, not politics). I had a
misguided notion that proximity sensors aren't nearly that good. I
would be happy with a 0.5 mil interval, so clearly proximity sensors
like yours would do.

Regretably, I don't seem to be able to access your video---clicking on
the caswa link takes me to an upload function. Can I ask which
proximity sensors you are using?

I'm just getting into the CNC game, so I don't even know what it is I
don't know, but I wouldn't expect a controller (EMC in my case) to
seek home position at top speed. Even if it did, I'm talking about a
small CNC mill rather than a CNC router and I don't expect very
impressive rapids, certainly nothing like 8m/min.

Regards,
Kent
