It's a method of feeding in small portions of G-code, usually over a
serial link, such that the rather limited memory on the controller isn't
overloaded.

I know it's possible with some Bridgeports, since I've seen it done
using something like ProComm. I don't remember the BP model, nor do I
know what kind of hardware was on the CNC to make it work.
