I am getting a bit frustrated with the Fanuc OM DC brush motor on my
cnc mill (it growls and is very hard to tune in both directions, even
on the bench) and am thinking of replacing it with a brushless motor I
have on hand. I currently use Gecko G340 drives for all three axis,
which work fairly well. I am not sure what drive to get to go with
the brushless motor...I was thinking about the Accelus digital drive
made by Copley. It takes step/dir or +/-10V, does sinusoidal
commutation via encoder feedback, has RS232 setup..sounds pretty
sweet, and is about $450. Do any of you have experience with this
drive, or can you recommend another sinusoidal drive?
Thanks for any input
