Hi All,

Marv said " Since I'm "electronically deprived", I need the
controller explained in simple terms."

So, I would immediately assume that he is not going to learn C to
program a micro for the project.

Some of you guys have offered great solutions, but some require some
sophisticated stuff.

I hope Marv has some controls experience with anything. A PLC or a PC
probably could work.

So, the question would really be, what REALLY SIMPLE approach would work ?

I assume G-code is one option. Can Turbo-CNC or any other language be
used to detect sensors and then respond to them ?

As for learning to program a micro, The BasicStamp is pretty easy and
has a HUGE forum where guys will really help out.

The PICAXE is a low cost chip (couple $3-$4) microcontroller that has
free software.

The PIC is harder to learn and unless one has programming experience,
I would advise one to look elsewhere.

The AVR-Butterfly is a neat package, but again, hard to program
without experience.
