I assume G-code is one option. Can Turbo-CNC or any other language be
used to detect sensors and then respond to them ?
As for learning to program a micro, The BasicStamp is pretty easy and
has a HUGE forum where guys will really help out.
The PICAXE is a low cost chip (couple $3-$4) microcontroller that has
free software.
The PIC is harder to learn and unless one has programming experience,
I would advise one to look elsewhere.
The AVR-Butterfly is a neat package, but again, hard to program
without experience.
