Harko,
I was looking at model 10B but don't have the pricing yet. Though I'm sure
they'll want an at least an arm for if.
http://www.airbearings.com/39
I haven't modeled the difference of horizontal-vs-vertical lathe. Both have
advantages and right now all I see is a simple X-Z setup, but I can imagine as I
get closer to higher precision I may have to rotate the cutter (C) axis to keep
it parallel to the radius of curvature.
Leaning towards the horizontal model because it doesn't require a gantry, but
the cost of the spindle will go up (300 lbs of glass initially + 650 lbs 3/4"
invar turntable + ~250 lbs of mirror cell with actuators). I plan to turn it in
situ so the there won't be any major deflections once the mirror is finished.
I have 2 Keyence FC-2420 laser displacement sensors and controllers (Resolution
.01um) that will monitor the turning and table runout. Probably add a few more
for table tilt.

I'll checkout the Etel linears, thanks.

One Other thing the Spindle Bearings will cost a lot of money inorder to
hold that size Mirror and have no runout.
