My question is, with a budget of ~$2000.00, is there a near-turn-key
CNC Wood Routing solution I should be looking at or am I in the
do-it-yourself bracket? The cost of a PC is not an issue for me as I
have plenty of PCs.

Here is how I see this. Philosophically not finanaclially.

IT is all about how much and where you put your effort.
A clever, well educated farm boy with a two year electronics degree
can make everything you describe for less than a hundred bucks of salvage.

Someone else will buy all the INFO and parts...and enjoty ebaying the
day away.

Where do you want to spend your time?
Making machines or making parts/art?

There is no compromise. You will build a machine or you will build
parts/art. The machine might be the Art......
You can spend your time writing software revisions or designing art.
Where we each cheap out is our own choice but the cost will be/is the
same. Time spent.

What do you want to do? Have some fun, waste some time and money, but
enjoy yourself and make sure you are doing what you enjoy? Trying to
justify it with the bean counter approach won't fool us, we have
shelves and shelves of the same idea.<G>
