Providing some parameters to your question would make it easier to answer.
What does wood routing mean to you? A 1/8 inch diameter cutter slowly
cutting a piece of pine or a 1/2 inch diameter cutter ripping through oak?
How big an area do you hope to be cutting? What would be the deepest cut?

I agree with the previous response. If you are very patient and very
involved, you probably will not use all the $2000.00 you have available. A
larger, stronger, faster machine that must be completed sooner will cost
more.

Start by making some sketches of the parts the machine will cut. Sketch a
machine that is capable of making the part. Set a timetable for
construction. This information will guide you to a reasonalbe estimate of
the cost.

I have read several posts describing the frustration of completing a machine
building project quickly and inexpensively only to find that the result was
a slow machine with a spindle that stalled often. I am way behind on my
machine building efforts but as I continue to learn I am more and more
confident that I will be satisfied with the result when I get it constructed
(current estimate is 1 - 2 years, time and money goes to family and home
first).

I am an experienced CNC Field Service Engineer and former Industrial
Engineer. I will offer suggestions to help you when I see your posts as you
pursue your project.

Have a good day!

Jim
