Hi,

I'm guessing that the noise factor is the only reason for the
synchronous mode in the them. Those 7062 drives can cause ALOT of
noise when sitting idle. If you don't mind the noise, then they are
fine.

Geckos don't run with a fixed-off type PWM scheme like the 7062 (or
most other Allegro products). Geckos use a synchronous timing signal
for both phases that has a small amount of added modulation per phase
to alleviate noise.
