Hello,

LOL. I just looked again and it appears that the only reason I have
such a large minimum shear is that I probably only had the 2" and 1-
1/2" alum angle that the shear fence is made from on hand the day I
made this... (It was a one-day-design-build-gotta-get-some-parts-out
kinda day. I DO remember that. Drove to San Jose in the morning to
get the machine; parts out the next day.)

I'm laughing because although I don't use the shear much (I use a
table or ouor large beam/panel saw instead; the sheets come in
4x12's) I always kinda thought it WAS an interference issue!

Well it's not. Looks like a lower(shear) fence made from the 2x2
mated to a 1x3 angle would close up the gap nicely. I'll have to do
that<G>

Thanks for asking; I learn somethig "new" every day. Still grinning
because there HAVE been a few times when I wanted to cut something
shorter and used workaround methods to do so!

Funny how things work. When I made this backgauge in '94; I NEEDED
the press brake immediately. The shear fence was just a "should be
there too" kind of thing. All these years no .828 needed<G>

FWIW, I'd still use a small offset--perhaps the .125 you mentioned--
just to keep the fences from interfering with one another...

Thanks for the grins,

Ballendo
