Beleville washers are exactly what most machining centres use to pull of
their drawbars. They do work great, but it requires a fair stack of
them to get the stroke length. I have a prototype er16 auto collet
closer which I built for an Emco C5 cnc. Now being redone for er32 as
my C5's are being retired. It's not easy to get the rigidity AND keep
the length down. I dont use spring washers in that design as it made
the assemble too long.
