they sell 5HP Teco VFD's that will run from single phase power.
If don't plan to push the machine hard, I've seen it suggested that
you can run a 5HP motor on a 3HP VFD. To do this you need to set the
acceleration and decelleration paramters a little slower than you
would with a 5HP VFD, but if you are not in a hurry and don't plan to
push the machine to the max it should work.
