I have to question the real need for this.

since most machines use and need breakout boards, that could be put
into the realm of the interface board.

A 74 HCT biffer chip on a board is simple to add, and costs next to
nothing.

Having to add a circuit on each driver means additional space for
something that is used one time.

Also, what if it is set on 3.3 volts and someone uses it on 5 ? poof ???

The questsions are ;
can it be done ?
does it offer benifits ?
does is compromise anything ?
