No luck finding nuts off the shelf at reasonable prices or taps so...

I've come to the conclusion I need to make a proper tap, this means I
need a length of 10X2mm Acme studding, I've had no luck finding this
so I have moved the leadnut on the table so that the longer feedscrew
doesn't have to be so long. This required only a single drilled hole
and the removal of a small rectangle of material so that the nut
doesn't catch.

I'm now going to grind up the last inch or so as a tap, it is going
well so far but I had to stop due to noise (late night now), I'm sure
it will work, I'm making the flutes with a dome ended griding bit and
then ensuring the teeth are sharp with a cut off wheel. The taper was
done by spinning in an electric screwdriver while applying the grinder
(to save the lathe from the dust).
