DON'T DO IT DAN!!! It's a thankless job (:-o (Just kidding)

Tom C [Moderator]

I really do think CCED has done more for my hobby that any other list.
There have been mistakes made and maybe some topics were cut short
but this could easly digress to chaos if tight rules were not imposed.
No one that gets "spanked" thinks the rules are applied fairly.

What most posters don't stop to think about is this is like a giant
discussion with thousands in the audience. If someone grabs the mic
and starts to ramble on about the weather in South Florida and how
that might effect building a CNC machine, it's up to the moderators to
ask that person to drop the subject and focus on topics that the group
was founded for.

There are a lot of people out there that want to learn about building
a CNC machine. Some are dreamers, some are doers. I want somehow to
impart the thrill of building you own machine and being able to have
it move and cut under your control! I want more of the dreamers to
get involved and experience what it is like.

There have been some subtle changes to the off-topic rules. When I was
asked to be a moderator I discussed one rule that I thought was in
need of revision. I think answering questions about HOW to use your
home built CNC have validity. Some of the "how do I" questions are
now more tolerated. I think endless discussions about esoteric
subjects (akin to how many angels can dance on the head of pin) that
have no real answer or are so far from the average guy in his garage
trying to build and learn about CNC are a disservice to the hundreds
of people that read and the posts.

When Bill started this list the intent was stated and the rules laid
out. There are other lists; some more focused and some wider in their
accepted subject matter. It's like having your own magazine. You
get to control what is printed.

My criteria is: Does it help a HSCNC person get his machine built?
Does it extend the hobby and answer questions that are focused on
helping the newer members?

So let's get back to what we all come here for (hopefully) and talk
about Home Shop CNC!
