Sweeeet!

The main difference I see between ballscrew and Acme is friction so you can
just keep the Acme screws and the 1,200 oz-in steppers to drive them. It
ain't broken...

Don't know what the power supply is -- I would rip out the control
electronics and use Geckos and a dedicated small PC running MACH3. You will
need to know the wiring on your steppers but this is a matter of ten minutes
with an ohmmeter. Any drive controller will have a maximum working voltage
so you may need to tweak the existing power supply.

This will make a very nice machine!
