Well, of course, my Bridgeport is run by a 100 MHz Pentium Classic, with
32 MB
or ram, I think. But, that is an ANCIENT version. If you don't need
high software-
generated step rates, then a pretty low-end system will work. The Puppy
Linux
based CD is probably the lowest requirements of any recent EMC. I'm pretty
sure it will run on a 333 MHz Pentium II with 64 MB of memory, and maybe
even less. I do all my EMC1 and EMC2 development work on a 600 MHz
Pentium III machine with 256 MB RAM, and it can recompile all of EMC1 or 2
in about 20 minutes. I don't use software-generated steps, so I don't know
how such a machine will perform in that department.
