Horace,

Mach 3 outputs step and direction signals, suitable for directly driving
stepper systems. Most older AC servos accept a +/- 10 volt DC analog
control input which sets their direction and speed. A few newer AC
servo amps also accept step and direction signals instead, but I've
never had one of these to play with.

Rutex and Skyco both make step/dir to servo converter boards. I use
Rutex 991H boards to interface step and direction signals from my older
Ah-Ha controller system to the Yaskawa AC servo amps on my CNC lathe.
