I figured I would try EMC with it. I don't know if I can get a high enough
step rate or not, but figured it was worth a try. In communicating with
Mariss he indicates that the drives are not at all picky about ragged spaced
pulses or suffer from the problems we see with steppers and their stalling
when EMC changes it's pulse spacing as it accelerates. So, my plan is to
first see what I can get out of freqmod and then see if I can do any better
with steppermod. If I am understanding how the period parameter is used
correctly a system set up with the default period using freqmod should be
able to put above 1 million pulses per minute and I use a period that is
about 2/3 of the default so I should get even higher rates. IMHO, the
problem with steppers is that they stall L O N G before you reach the
software limitation.
Just started playing with one of the drives hooked to an Electronic Goldmine
motor. It is pretty interesting.
