I use inductive proximity probes (<US$12 on ebay) they work very well, are
non contact, sealed, and have no moving parts.

I've had so far. I run them normally closed and vibration from the machine
intermittently bumps them open and faults my geckos and wrecks my part. I've
been just running with the switches disconnected and all works well. I found
that if I wrap the machine with a screwdriver handle near the switches this
creates the fault a lot of the time.

You may have oil in the switches. The basic plastic switch body is not
sealed, and
oil can creep inside and damage them over time.

I got some great MicroSwitch sealed units from
http://www.cpisurpl <http://www.cpisurplus.com/> us.com/ , but they
certainly are
not suitable for a Taig or minimill. There probably are some units made
for the smaller
machines, if that's what you have. CPI has a constantly changing stock
of these sorts
of parts, and you should ask if you don't see what you want. I'm
guessing they have a
warehouse full of junked production machinery and it's sort of like an
industrial
junkyard.

These switches run $60 and up new, I got mine for under $5 each!
