In my opinion, go w/ Acme thread.. at minimum. Check
useenco.com for some reasonable prices on it. It'll
be more accurate and function better. If you have a
table already, why not make it removable from the
table rather than try to attach it to the sheet? A
buddy w/ a lathe or some smaller pieces of DOM tube
(.240 wall) w/ some rods will make for some reasonably
quick disconnect and repeatability if necessary.
If you work another hour of overtime it'll be worth it
in the long run to spend a few dollars extra on the
machine in the long run.
5'+x10'+ homebrew industrial table (that I wish was
twice as big - for what I do) - 8'x20' would be nice
and would've saved me over 700 bucks on some 3/4"
plate if I could've handled 8' wide sheet x 10'+ that
I recently purchased (2 ea - 5x10x3/4" GR50)!. Cost
me over $2.00 cwt to get it cut to size.
