Jon, I wasn't aware of that and I stand corrected. However, the
prolifiration of non-corrected power supplies in computers and other
electronic devices is begining to have an impact on the power grid
regards to reactive loads. I recently read that standards may be
instituted requiring power supplies be power factor corrected to .98
sometime in the near future. Witness the number of new switching
power supply ICs that include power factor correction circuitry.
