Point to ponder: I always assume either a single point ground or a
good low level ground and a single point for high powered stuff
(comes from analog design and radio experience.) Even if there are
no ground loops (as with a tree), one can see offset voltages which
will kill you.

Assumptions like this are why I keep having to remind myself that not
all people have similar experiences.
