One other thing you might try is to lower the acceleration rate.

What line count encoder are you using? By dropping to a lower line
count you will fault at a greater following error. It will cost you
resolution but with gearing and leadscrews the steps per are probably
small increments anyway. There is no way to adjust the 128 count
number in the existing 320/340
