Correct - EMC2 will not lose position as long as the encoder remains
powered. Jon sells a board that provides power to the encoders (among
other things) so that if the gecko gets powered off (in an e-stop
condition, for instance), the encoder is still active, and the PC will
still track servo position. This is regardless of whether you press
escape, hit an E-Stop button, or trip a circuit breaker (as long as the
PC and encoders aren't on the same circuit ;) ).
