Why use 000-120 or 0000-160. I routinely use 00-90 nuts and bolts
which I make to fit wherever I am using them. I like to make models
that reflect the prototype as best as can be done, nut and bolt detail
is essential to this end. Making the nuts and bolts allows me to make
the head any size to fit the scale, within the limits of the diameter
of the thread. Even in 1/2" scale there is a need for nut head detail
down to 0.010 across the flats, one might ask what's the point it's
not visible to the naked eye, that's true but I like to photograph the
finished items and that's where the rub comes in. Do a close up and
right away any liberties taken with the detail show up big time. I've
reached the lower limit of what a 00-90 will allow as regards
dimension across the flats of a hexhead.
