I turn tapered threads with turbocnc at 700-1000RPM.

I've built an ELS on TCNC by modifying the screens and it runs on $100

Yes, that was one thing, although I think it still was a problem
even at 80 steps/unit. Bit, there were also GUI problems when
the user or program switched the units being displayed with
G20/G21 and when tool offsets were in use. I think all of that
has been totally cleaned up now.

And, sometimes I forget which group I am reading/replying to. I
really can't believe anybody still uses Turbo CNC, it is so
antiquated, or at least the version I helped somebody set up
recently was. Just totally dark ages, and he can get his
mini-lathe to thread at no higher than 40 RPM or something.
