Mathew, was it a water soluble oil? I'm using a blue cutting fluid that that mixes heavily with water (cant remember the name and I'm not at work to look). This stuff starts to stink without bleach or bacteria tablets. If the water soluble oil is the way to go maybe that's what I'll get. A completely oil based cutting fluid that doesn't burn, evaporate or smoke would be preferred. Anyone have any recommended brand names?

Hi,I've used the same water soluble cutting oil on my bandsaw for the last three years, I just top up with oil when it starts to look too dark in color, and add water and or oil when the level goes down. I've been surprised at how quickly the water can evaporate. I don't remember what it said on the label when i bought it, the said label is long since gone! It has not changed smell in the time that I've been using it. I'm sure it's mineral based.I hope this helps, Matthewshawn c <shawncd1@...> wrote: Hello, wondering if anyone in the group has experience using a type of cutting oil in there flood coolant reservoirs? I would like to get away from the rancid smell and maintenance that goes with water based coolants. I have a band saw, cnc lathe, and mill that I would like to find a good alternative for. I see they make a water soluble cutting oil. Does this go bad and start to stink? I would assume anything water based is going to have a short life if not used frequently and maintained. My machines may sit for weeks at a time without use. It would be nice to use them when I need to without having to deal with the stench or dump and refill for a once in while use.Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks![Non-text portions of this message have been removed]---------------------------------Sent from Yahoo! - a smarter inbox.[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
