Search the CNCzone website for deepgroove; this problem and the
solution has come up before. Main problem seems to be caused by the z
axis gib being able to move longitudinally, which as it's tapered
allows it to lock fast by cam action until you change direction.
Tightening the gib end adjustment screws to remove all movement (plus
lots of lube) seems to do the trick.
