Just a guess but it could be due to other tasks running on the PC, that the
timing is interupted by another process and its screwing up the signal. Even
in pure dos there will be enough in-system operations to cause this,
especially on a laptop.
Is anyone running a mac with a motorola processor? Their risc processor should
allow for very accurate timings in the same way that exact timings can be
built in to programs running on microcontrollers, not sure how the systems
own background tasks would affect them though.
The number of folks putting together controller software is impressive. Would
it be worth keeping a noticeboard (or something) to keep track of who is
doing what so if 2 folks are working on the same kind of component in a
program they could get together on it? Just a thought, folks here are also
developing commercial software so I hope its not a touchy subject.
cheers
