no. The Z axis is alway parallel to the spindle, so a Z move is
always axial to the turned part, and an X move would always
alter the diameter. So, on machines that have been properly set
up according to the standard, a lathe program will correctly
make a part in a mill's spindle, assuming the tool has been put
on the centerline with the Y axis.
