Hi Martin.

When you say that you can see the 1PPR signal in halscope, what are you
probing? If you're looking at the parallel port pin, that shows that
the signal is getting in correctly, but it doesn't show that it's
getting connected to the software encoder counter. (Incidentally, it
should be low most of the time and high when the index arrives) If
you're probing the encoder.0.phase-Z pin when you see the index pulses,
and things still aren't working, then there's definitely a problem
somewhere. If you could repeat the tests I gave you but look at the
encoder.0.phase-Z and encoder.0.index-enable pins (plus
encoder.0.position), that would tell us if there are missing connections
or if there's a problem in the encoder counter.

Could you please post a snippet of the code you're using? Also, if you
can stick your stepconf file and the generated hal and ini files on
http://pastebin.ca, we may be able to get somewhere. I've been
concentrating on the hardware setup, but haven't asked any questions
about the code you're trying to run :) I also neglected to ask what
version of EMC2 you're using, so please provide that information as well.

Thanks
- Steve
