your questions - (see below) - I hope it helps you to help me.

I'm looking at SIGNALS spindle-index and spindle-phase-A. Both give a
clean trace on the 'scope.
It is - both index and phase-A
I can't see any output on encoder.0.phase-Z.
encoder.0.phase-Z = no trace on 'scope.
encoder.0.index-enable = no trace on 'scope
encoder.0.position = no trace on 'scope but numeric counter
increments with spindle rotation at bottom of the screen.

At this stage only the examples included with the software
(threading.ngc and G76.ngc).
Latest version ubuntu-8.04-desktop-emc2-aj07-i386 downloaded 16th May.
