A little searching on the web for "BH curves" will find lots of
information on magnetic materials. For example, http://www.shinetsu-
rare-earth-magnet.jp/e/design/ gives a pretty good discussion on the
properties of rare earth magnets. Other materials have very
different demagnetization properties, as others have mentioned.
1st year college physics covers a little of this stuff. I can
remember the curves for hard and soft iron.
Guess that shows how long ago it was.
