Ron,
Autoclaved Aerated Concrete blocks/bricks are readily carved with low
cost bits. There are several makers of these bricks/blocks under the
Hebel patents.
They are so responsive to carbide endmills, you will be able to
engrave as deeply as you wish. So deeply, it would be a snack to paint
enhance the engraving with a syringe, after vacuuming out the dust.
If this is an outdoor wall, the Hebel people specify an acrylic sealer
which is normally rolled onto the finished wall. Shouldn't upset the
paint fill.
