Thanks, I assumed the goal was to be able to produce custom length belts so I learned something! I hope you post pics of your new router. I'm about 1/2 way through building mine but it will use conventional ball screws. It is designed to use two steppers for the X axis but I was thinking of ways to use one stepper with belts to each ball screw.

They are not joined into belts, they are used with the ends fastened
down, more like a rack drive. Im doing this now on a new router. I will
be making a block to pinch the belt that is bolted to the moving table.
