As you are just clamping the belt you don't have to accurately match the
tooth profile. All you need to do is machine a series of slots at the
correct pitch and chamfer the corners of the slots. You do need fairly
accurate pitch to reduce stress on the belt core. Also don't over
tighten the clamp.
