What do you mean by 'top to bottom'?
Electro-Discharge Machining uses spark erosion to remove metal. So you have
the board laying flat in some EDM fluid. Then you would have a single
filament copper wire(0.2mm) just above the board, moving left to right,
then move a step and traverse again. Spark away the excess copper leaving
just the desired pattern.
