Again, they are all different, but usually the glass scale is glued into
the extrusion in some manner.
Once you have the head out of the way, you can usually wipe the scale
with a Q-tip soaked in
rubbing alcohol, by just sliding it down the sealing lips. it will take
a number of Q-tips to
get it clean. Then, wait for it to dry, and wipe once or twice more
with dry Q-tips to remove the haze
left by the alcohol. It can be quite hard to SEE the condition of the
scale, although it may be possible
in some to get a micro-inspection mirror in there, and hold the sealing
lips open so you can see just a
little of the scale.
