The 5-phase motors can be wired up as a uni-polar drive with 5 fet's or
transistors. It means you'de either need to make some logic gates or use an
8255 card using 5 control bits to get the pulse sequence right, but
it is do-able. I haven't tried it yet, but I do have a burger - lahr 5-phase
driver laying around, so I probably won't have to.
But if you have to, it can be pulsed in a simular sequence to a 4 phase
unipolar.

phase ecitation is:

1 0 0 0 0
1 1 0 0 0
0 1 0 0 0
0 1 1 0 0
0 0 1 0 0
0 0 1 1 0
0 0 0 1 0
0 0 0 1 1
0 0 0 0 1 etc.

I think the idea is you can go faster cuz, the field
in each winding has more time to decay .
