Yup, it's ugly all right. But there is a lot of cast iron
there. At 2500 lbs. I should be able to get it back to my
shop for no more than $300. So I pay myself $500 to clean
the rust off. Well maybe.

I think I know what a #3 morse taper looks like and this
isn't it. It has a collet in it that I removed and looked
at. It has a fairly steep taper about an inch long and then
a straight shank with three flats on it forming a sort of
rounded triangle. Is that the #30 NMTB? If so is tooling
available to fit? The spindle seems rather small for the
size of the rest of it. I have a hard time picturing a 1/2"
end mill fitting in it.

If ballscrews were only three times the price of the mill
($0) I would be a very happy guy. "Infinitely more
expensive" doesn't sound as good. It's hard to pass up a
"free" mill, but I don't know if I can talk myself into this
one or not.
