there are some spindle repair folks out there that can regrind the taper in
place
they bring there own gear in (self feeding grinder head on an angle plate)
and use the your own mill head to provide the cyl grinder bit
if there is enough stock there they may be able to work it up to the next
size of standard taper ,just a thought
