Thank you for the reply.
I have Tom Kramer's Docs for All his interpreters (as used in EMC).
274V1,274V2,274VGER,274KT,274V3(six axis)
EMC represents just ONE of the "flavors". And some of the choices
they have made (and are making) do not reflect what others in the
industry have done (and are doing).
This is one of the reasons to put together a comprehensive list of G-
codes. Remember when G70,G71 was common for inch/mm? Now it's G20 and
G21. We have a LOT of different codes doing the same thing. A group
like ours could help reduce (or eliminate) this for the future.
Right now, I believe the standard is being driven by who's selling
the most machines into schools (HAAS would have to figure highly in
this regard) and factories. It's Crazy to have to remember whether to
use a "P" or a "Q" or an "X" with G04(pause)!
So for the long term sanity of machine tool operators everywhere,
having a list of what's been done already; and using said list to
help define a more orderly future, Can't hurt.
