Matt,
I believe there is a lot of truth in your last post. I'm glad you
said you support the idea, tho.
A favorite quote: Do not let what you cannot do, keep you from doing
what you CAN do. FDR???
So, Maybe can't fix it all. But we CAN help EMC not to ADD to the
mess! And we CAN let the new members of our community know what the
most standard codes are. And we CAN put together a reference to help
the machinist struggling with an older/unusual control that came
without docs. (Someone on our list probably has the docs)And we CAN
make it easier for someone to write a post-processor(g code
translator) without paying thousands of dollars for what is mostly a
editor search and replace function.
And we CAN get the knowledge of the different choices made by those
control manufacturers out to the public, which can remove the "smoke
and mirrors" they are using to lead some to believe THEY have the
SUPERIOR method. Someone who knows our list can say,"Hey, that G156
is just a G31 in disguise!" "the Emperor has no clothes".
