The tear drop, approach and depart, will still work well, you just have to remember to offset the finish contour by the tool radius, before adding them.

Other variations not mentioned, are controllers that will and will not allow changes in Z depth while cutter comp is turned on. Most in my experience would prefer that cutter comp be turned off at any time that Z moves are executed.
