Joe,

An optical center punch? is this to align the spindle or to punch the
intersection of scribed lines? I started to think there was a
"periscope" type device that chucked up in the collet, and "peered" down
at the work, giving some sort of alignment gradicule. I wonder if
something like that would be practical? I have a "bomb site" for an old
HP 7475, etc. plotter; if one could add a mirror at 45deg., and mount
the whole thing, it might be useful.

Maybe the ball end wigglers find the center of a drilled/bored hole? I
finally saw/read up on the "tophat" (?) centerfinder in Rudy's
tapes/books (I can't remember which).

I saw OMW's "Center Test Wobbler" (for lathe) at the P.R.I.M.E. show,
but at $30 plus shipping, I thought I might make one, when I need it. I
still wonder if the long needle is bent a little, will it still be
accurate? I examined one on the table, and it didn't seem to be true.
Maybe it doesn't matter?
