First off Taus, welcome to the list.

My first CNC project was a conversion of a Sherline mill I had at the time.
I used the Camtronics 5 amp driver (serious overkill, but I was trying to
anticipate future needs) and 135 in/oz motors. It worked great and moved the
Z axis at good speed without any counter balance. So, if you use 180 in/oz
motors you will have more than enough power based on my experience and if
you add a counter balance you will be even better off.
