I'd recommend buying real way oil. I'm going to be needing to reorder
from MSC pretty soon, I can post the MSC part number and price. They
will accept COD or credit cards for individual purchases.
Way oil is specially formulated to, well, lube ways. It stays in place
much better than say, spindle lube. A gallon will cost under $15 less
shipping and will last a hobbyist a lifetime.
I'm not a lubrication expert, so can't comment on the suitability of
engine oil. If you are going to go the auto parts store route, I'd think
a good gear lube would work better.
